A term borrowed by Americans to define shows combining ribald comedy and sexy dances, Burlesque had its heyday from the end of the 19th century until the 1960s, with the reign of the pin-up. We are not talking about theater here but about leaf stripping; or the art of undressing with glamor and second degree. As a worthy heir to the discipline, Le Burlesque Klub offers daring, subversive, funny shows, full of good humor and communicative energy. This year, in the edition entitled "Vintage Carnival", the troupe pays tribute to the women who formerly performed in the "strip booths" of traveling fairs and circuses. An activity so lucrative that all the strippers flocked to it, even the stars who were more accustomed to the Broadway stage...
